Chef Heidi Gilbertson Featured at Dinner in the Vineyard

Heidi Gilbertson of Island Cafe is among the chefs who will be featured at this year’s Dinner in the Vineyard on Washington Island on Thursday, Aug. 29, 4 pm. When asked why she was looking forward to participating again, she said, “I believe in the mission of the vineyard. I want to help; I don’t have a lot of time. It’s one little thing I can do.”

Gilbertson is mission-driven. She wants to “connect people to where their food comes from – to the people and farmers who grow it.”

Dinner in the Vineyard does just that by featuring fresh ingredients from farms on the Island – including Hoot Blossom, Island Edibles, Island Harvest and Folk Tree Farm – that are prepared by Door County and Island chefs. The fundraiser will support Gathering Ground’s mission to gather people together to celebrate, learn about and practice sustainable agriculture.

There are still a few spots open at the Dinner in the Vineyard table. Purchase yours at doorcountytickets.com or the Saturday farmers’ market on the Island. The event includes a vineyard tour, passed appetizers and drinks, and a five-course, family-style community meal featuring fresh and local dishes and beverages prepared by top local chefs, breweries and wineries.
