Chefs for a Day Event Focuses on Local Food

The 18th annual Chefs for a Day event will be held Oct. 19 at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club. Doors open at 6 pm and volunteer servers will distribute hors d’oeuvres from 6:30 until 7:15 pm. At 7:15 pm, guests will be able to sample the entrees, served by each chef at numerous buffet stations.

New this year, guests will have the opportunity to watch a cooking demonstration and learn about cheese pairings from 6:15 – 7 pm.

Last year the theme “Buy Local, Cook Local, Eat Local” was so successful, it will once again be the theme. Chefs have been asked to have at least 50 percent of their ingredients either grown/produced locally or purchased locally.

We are asking our guests to donate nonperishable food items at the door to be distributed to local food pantries.

Throughout the evening there will be a silent auction. Some items include artwork, jewelry, dining certificates, golfing certificates, clothing and more.

Tickets are available for $45 at the United Way office and must be purchased in advance. For tickets, call 920.746.9645 or visit unitedwaydc.com.
