Chez Cheryl Art Space Offers Workshops

Emmett Johns offers feedback to Bonnie Sandstrom at last year’s workshop at Chez Cheryl Art Space.

Chez Cheryl Art Space will offer painting workshops with Ken Klopack and Emmett Johns in September. These workshops provide students with a rich opportunity to work with two outstanding painters. Both artists have a long history of exhibition and teaching in the area.

Johns will demonstrate his plein air methods, exploring the landscape just outside the door. Surrounded by pasture, forest and farmland, as well as a Lake Michigan and Kangaroo Lake, students will have a variety of elements from which to choose. This workshop, held Sept. 16 – 18, meets 9 am – 4 pm.

Students must furnish their own supplies. A map and suggested materials list will be provided. The fee is $350 for the three days and includes a catered meal and tea break. Early bird sign-up (prior to July 1) is $330. The deadline for registration is Sept. 1.

Klopack is a well-known figurative painter and art educator from the Chicago area and has taught in this area for over a dozen years. His workshop, held Sept. 9 – 11, will explore the placement of the human figure and composition of the interior space.

The early bird sign-up fee is $280, and $300, after July 1.

Class size for both workshops will be limited to ensure students plenty of time with their instructor.

Chez Cheryl Art Space is located at 8360 High Plateau Road, just west of Baileys Harbor. For more information, email [email protected] or call 920.421.1690.
