Child Care Donation in Honor of Colee

Jean and Darrel Severson (shown, far right) donated $5,000 to the Door Community Child Development Center in Sturgeon Bay in honor of their daughter, Nicole, or “Colee” to friends and family. 

Colee had spent her career working in child care, the last eight of those years for the center in Sturgeon Bay, formerly the Barker Center. Colee, whose photo hangs on the memorial wall at the child care center (shown in the background), was only 34 when she lost her final battle with cancer Feb. 1, 2022. 

Also shown from left are Nicole “Nicky” Romdenne, center administrator; and Alexis Fuller, executive director. Fuller said the Seversons’ donation would be used for the tuition scholarship fund.

“That would have meant a lot to her,” Jean said. “She knew how some parents were struggling.”
