Children’s Author Has Posthumous Publication

An illustrated children’s book called The Oak Tree and The Princess by Manitowoc native Sherry Wachholz was recently published posthumously. This enchanting story shows the power of love when an oak tree helps a princess to realize her dream and teaches her how helping the one you love is not work – it is joy.

Wachholz’s inspiration for the book grew out of her lifelong passion for camping, hiking and observing wildlife at Peninsula State Park. The entire Wachholz family camped there for decades and was featured in a story about the park’s 100th anniversary in the May/June 2009 edition of Wisconsin Trails Magazine. Later, Wachholz also fell in love with Rocky Mountain National Park.

Because of her deep concern for environmental conservation, all profits from book purchases will be donated to Peninsula State Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. The book is available at the Peninsula State Park camp store or at amazon.com.
