Children’s Book Illustration and Production Workshops at Peninsula School of Art

Learning the ins and outs of publishing and illustrating children’s books is packaged into two consecutive hands-on workshops at Peninsula School of Art.

On July 15, Stacey Williams-Ng will introduce students to the basics of illustrating and producing interactive book apps on the iPad through her workshop, The Interactive Digital Children’s Book. Williams-Ng, an adjunct instructor in digital book design at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, has been involved in innovations in e-learning and digital media since 1995. Her own book, Astrojammies, is for sale at the App Store.

Award-winning author and illustrator of children’s books, Laura Nyman Montenegro, will complement the curriculum of Williams-Ng’s workshop by focusing on the discovery and development of a student’s unique storytelling voice in The Art of Making Picture Books, July 16 – July 19. Each student will take on the roles of author, illustrator, and book designer to create several picture book dummies. Workshop attendees can expect to build a repertoire of writing pieces, illustration skills, and techniques.
