Choose Your Own Adventure Reading Program Kicks Off

Students that have just completed fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh or eighth grades are eligible to join the “Choose Your Own Adventure” program at a Door County Library.

Participants keep track of the time they spend reading – marking every hour on a reading log. Readers get credit for time spent reading to themselves, or by reading with someone else (like a younger sibling). After completing five hours, the log can be turned in to the library for a chance to win one of 23 adventures.

The adventures include:  a haircut and style or mini-manicure kit; free bowling or movie adventures; time with a veterinarian; hands-on learning about dog care and training; a series of Fall dance classes; a fishing expedition with an expert; a ferry, train, trolley, or boat ride; a year’s membership with community health and nature organizations; and more.

Join over 100 young Door County readers who are already hoping to win adventures generously provided by Door County individuals, businesses and organizations. There’s plenty of time yet to read; the deadline for submitting the completed reading logs is Friday, July 31.

Sign-up and get details at your local Door County library in Baileys Harbor, Egg Harbor, Ephraim, Fish Creek, Forestville, Sister Bay, Sturgeon Bay and Washington Island. Information and adventure details can also be found online at
