Church of Atonement in Door County Features Organ Recitals

Kyle Ritter of the Cathedral of All Souls in Asheville, NC, and Eric Plutz of Princeton University will perform organ recitals at 5 and 7 pm on August 19 at the Church of the Atonement in Fish Creek.

The program of organ music will include three Bach cantatas, compositions by 20th century British composers Percy Whitlock, Peter Hurford and John Rutter, Samuel Sebastian Wesley’s “Duet for Organ,” Charles Callahan’s “Evensong” and Margaret Sandresky’s “The Good Shepherd.” The program will conclude with Henri Mulet’s “Carillon Sortie.”

Ritter teaches at Brevard College. In the past he has been an adjunct instructor in liturgics at Virginia Theological Seminary and has taught in the Episcopal dioceses of Washington and Virginia. Plutz, university organist at Princeton, was director of music at the Church of Epiphany in Washington, D. C., also serving there as organist at Temple Sinai. He has accompanied the Washington Bach Consort, the National Symphony Orchestra and the Washington Ballet. He has two solo albums.

Ritter will also play for two weeks at the Fish Creek church’s Sunday services.
