“Clark Lake Birds” by Rosemary Stuart

Judges’ comments:

Oftentimes nature photography lacks the spirit and life that it hopes to capture; however, this photographer did an excellent job of framing the shot so that our eyes focus on the two birds, intently focusing on each other. With the closing of the shutter, the flight of the Red-winged Blackbird is suspended for just a moment, hinting at the movements to come. It is as if the pop of red on each bird’s feathers could serve as warning flags of the event about to take place. The photographer was certainly in the right place at the right time, bringing this shot to life and sharing a bit of nature’s interaction with us.

Rosemary Stuart is from Milwaukee, WI and spends as much time as possible with her family at their cottage on Clark Lake. She is a biologist and amateur photographer and loves taking pictures of the beautiful nature, wild life and landscapes of Door County.
