Classes and Events at Artists Guild

Artists Guild offers a two-afternoon class for high school students titled “Building a Portfolio” on Sept. 29 and Oct. 6 from 2 – 4 pm. Sarah Bradley will guide students through preparing a compelling portfolio for college art program applications. This class is hands-on; students will draw. The cost is $30.

The topic for the Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 After School Youth Art Programs is “Best Friend Picture Frames.” Instructor Sarah Bradley will lead students through painting a portrait of themselves with a friend. Ages 5 -8 meet on Monday, 3 – 4:30 pm, for $25; and ages 9 – 12 meet on Tuesday, 3:30 – 5:30 pm, for $30. The topic for teens (ages 13 – 18) on Oct. 3 is “Painting Music.” The class meets from 3:30 – 5:30 pm for $30.

The October session of Life Drawing Guild, a non-instructed session that runs on Tuesday nights from Oct. 8 – 29, kicks off with a free night on Oct 1. The cost is $40 or $20 per evening. Artists bring their own materials; easels and tables are available. Pre-registration is required for the free night.

“Bottle & Brush” continues Thursday evenings from 6:15 – 8:15 pm. Jen Aldrich guides beginner artists through step-by-step instructions in creating an acrylic painting. Participants can bring refreshments. The cost is $35.

The topic for the Oct. 5, 10 am – 12 pm, “Art Fundamentals” is Watercolor Painting. Students will create their own paintings after a watercolor demonstration. The class is $30.

A new session titled “Skills Enhancement Studio with Craig Blietz” takes place Oct. 5, 9 am – 4 pm. This is an opportunity to work with a noted artist and instructor in a very individualized setting. Students will bring their own materials and work in the medium of their choice. This class will be repeated in November and December. The cost is $125 for the day.
