Classes on Growing Apples and Area Pollinators

The Peninsular Agricultural Research Station (PARS) will offer the next class in its Backyard Apple School on Aug. 25, 4-6 pm, to get participants started on growing apples. This session will focus on pests: the insects, mammals and diseases that can threaten apples; and how to combat them sustainably and protect trees in the future.

PARS will also host a program about area pollinators Aug. 27, 9 am – 12 pm. Sample locally sourced snacks and drinks while learning through presentations that include “Our Local Pollinators and the Fruits of Their Labor,” “Beekeeping 101,” “Establishing Pollinator Habitat on Your Land” and “Woodland Management to Support Pollinators.”
