This weekend marks the kickoff of Halloween celebrations on the peninsula, along with Ellison Bay Arts’ Fall Art Crawl, autumn hikes in the great outdoors, and a visit by Milwaukee rockers Trapper Schoepp & The Shades. But these are just a few of our top picks for the weekend ahead!

Kick Off Your Halloween Celebration

Too excited to wait another week to don your Halloween costume? There are plenty of excuses to wear it this weekend while celebrating the spooky holiday early, with Door County YMCA’s Halloween Party, the Haunted Trolley Pub Crawl, Thrills on Third Avenue, or Sturgeon Bay Library’s Halloween & Dia de los Muertos celebration.

The Golden Age of Comedy

For the third time, Rogue Theater will bring back its presentation of classic comedy sketches from TV shows of the 50s, 60s and 70s, paying tribute to such comedy greats as Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman, Archie Campbell and Bob Newhart, among others. 7:30 pm.

Fall Art Crawl in Ellison Bay

Explore one-of-a-kind art galleries, shops and nature trails while enjoying refreshments and demos during Ellison Bay Arts’ Fall Art Crawl. 10 am – 5 pm.

Fall 50

Enjoy the beauty of Door County’s western shoreline while taking part in the point-to-point 50-mile run that offers a challenge to both solo and team runners. Not a runner? Enjoy the race from the sidelines!

Fall Wreath Making at The Ridges

Learn how to turn natural items collected from the woods, fields and yards at The Ridges to make beautiful fall wreaths and candle holders. 10 am.

Trapper Schoepp & The Shades at Brewery

Milwaukee rockers Trapper Schoepp & The Shades, who have toured with such bands as The Wallflowers, Cory Chisel and The Wandering Sons, Soul Asylum and The Jayhawks, will make a stop at Door County Brewing Co. on Saturday night from 7-9 pm.

Book Signing and Discussion with The Sign Fairy

Local author Jill Harding will be present to discuss and sign her book The Sign Fairy, which tells the story of how one small good act made a big change. 10 am – 5 pm.

Hike The Clearing

Take part in a rugged, docent-led hike at The Clearing Folk School in Ellison Bay. 1 pm.
