TOWN OF GIBRALTAR

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

20-YEAR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT the Town of Gibraltar Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed adoption of the Town of Gibraltar Comprehensive Plan. The public hearing will be held as part of the Town of Gibraltar Plan Commission meeting on June 20, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the Gibraltar Town Office, 4097 Main St, Fish Creek. The Town of Gibraltar Plan Commission may act following the public hearing on the proposed adoption of the Town of Gibraltar Comprehensive Plan.

ALSO TAKE NOTICE THAT an open house informational meeting will precede the abovementioned public hearing on May 30th and June 13th at 6:00 p.m. at the Gibraltar Town Office. The open house is an additional opportunity for town residents and other interested individuals to review and ask questions about the town’s comprehensive plan.

The proposed comprehensive plan update contains revised inventory and analysis of the town’s physical setting, demographics, housing, community facilities, transportation facilities, and land uses. With assistance from the Bay-Lake Regional Plan Commission, the Town of Gibraltar developed the proposed comprehensive plan update that describes how the Town of Gibraltar envisions its development and preservation of land in the town during the next 20 years. The proposed plan includes goals and actions as well as land use recommendations depicted on a 20-Year Land Use Plan map.

Copies of the proposed Town of Gibraltar Comprehensive Plan are available for review at the following locations:

Notice of Pending After-the-fact Application for Proposed Coastal Riprap

James and Susan McAninch, 3170 Lake Forest Park Rd, Sturgeon Bay, WI, 54235, have applied to the Department of Natural Resources for an after-the-fact permit to place coastal riprap along 100’ of shoreline. The project is located in SW 1/4, SE 1/4, Section 12, Township 27N, Range 26E in Town of Sturgeon Bay, Door County.

The project consisted of the placement of stone riprap along the shoreline replacing an existing failing seawall. The project extended the toe of the stone too far waterward and onto the lakebed. The modified plans include moving the toe landward such that no more than 6-8’ feet of stone extends beyond the ordinary high watermark. The location of the new toe will be in line with the third step up from the lake. Total length of the project is 100+ linear feet. The slope will be maintained at 2:1 with any extra stone being placed to the north on the Town right-of-way. Work may occur on the exposed lakebed.

The Department will review the proposal provided by the applicant and any information from public comments and the public informational hearing. The Department will determine whether the proposal complies with ss. 1.11, 30.12, and 30.208, Stats., and ch. NR 150, Wis. Adm. Code, and ensure that the required mitigation meets the standards in s. 281.36(3r), Stats. if the project impacts wetlands.

The Department has made a tentative determination that it will issue the permit for the proposed activity.

Public Hearing on Comprehensive Plan

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town of Jacksonport will hold a public hearing, conducted by the Town Board, on June 27, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Hall, 3365 County V, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 to consider a proposed update to the Town of Jacksonport 2014 Comprehensive Plan.

THE PURPOSE OF THE PUBLIC HEARING is to gather public input on the Town of Jacksonport Comprehensive Plan.

OPEN HOUSE INFORMATIONAL MEETING: Also please take notice that an Open House Informational Meeting will precede the abovementioned hearing on June 27, 2023 from 5:30pm until 6:00pm at the Jacksonport Town Hall. The Open House is an additional opportunity for town residents and other interested individuals to review and ask question about the Town’s Comprehensive Plan.

SUMMARY: The Proposed Comprehensive Plan would update the Comprehensive Plan as required under Wisc Stats 66.1001. The plan has been updated to reflect current information and contains revised inventory and analysis of the town’s physical setting, demographics, housing, community facilities, transportation facilities, and land uses. With assistance from the Bay-Lake Regional Plan Commission, the Town of Jacksonport developed the proposed comprehensive plan update that describes how the Town of Jacksonport envisions its development and preservation of land in the town during the next 20 years. The proposed plan is designed to be used by Town officials as a policy guide to preserve and improve appropriate areas of the Town over the next 20 years.

During the Public Hearing, the public is invited to speak on the proposed plan update. For those unable to attend, written comments may be submitted to the Town Clerk until June 20, 2023 at 3:00 pm, and shall become part of the record
