Claudia Russell on Washington Island

California singer/songwriter Claudia Russell and her band, the Folk Unlimited Orchestra, will perform twice in Door County this summer as part of an eight-day tour of Wisconsin and Illinois. The group will appear Saturday, July 31 at 7:30 pm at the Red Barn on Washington Island and the following Friday, August 6 at 7 pm at the Woodwalk Gallery Concert Series in Egg Harbor.

Russell is a world-class vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist and is well known in Door County as a frequent cast member of American Folklore Theater. Accompanied by Folk Unlimited Orchestra, Russell plays her own brand of Americana/folk woven from traditional music, pop, blues, western swing, and country.

Russell has performed at festivals and concert series throughout the US. Though she is based in the San Francisco Bay area, she is proud to call the Door County her home away from home. “I’m a Midwestern wannabe. Every show I play, I talk about Door County and all the good times I’ve had, and friends I’ve made here,” Russell says.

Bassist Mark Petrella and Russell’s husband, guitarist and mandolinist, Bruce Kaplan, round out the Folk Unlimited Orchestra.

The Red barn is located at 1474 S. Shore Drive on Washington Island. The Woodwalk Gallery is located at 6746 County Road G in Egg Harbor.
