Clearing at the Clearing

Recently, a crew of diligent workers cleared trees at The Clearing in Ellison Bay. More than the average volunteers, many of these folks had been coming to The Clearing for as many as 15 or 20 years to participate in the annual work week. Paying a daily fee for room and meals, the workers gladly spent their days washing windows, installing storm windows, splitting and stacking firewood and refreshing the sawdust on the walking paths.

The focus of this year’s work week was to re-open some of the original vistas that Jens Jensen had designed to complement the campus. In addition to opening the view to the bay from the dining room, work had been done to open a path for the sunrise to greet the Main Lodge.
