Bruce Nilles, executive director of Climate Imperative, will present “The Urgent Need to Stop Burning Gas: Electrify Our Economy with Clean Power Now!” on May 5, 7 pm, as part of the Climate Change Coalition of Door County’s Season of Action.
Nilles will focus on how we can and must move away not only from coal but also burning gas in our homes, businesses and power plants. Climate Imperative is a project of Energy Innovation, which is aimed at cutting carbon emissions at the speed and scale needed to avoid climate change’s worst effects.
Nilles was previously the managing director at Rocky Mountain Institute, where he designed and launched the Building Electrification Campaign, and he was recognized by Politico in 2015 as one of the “thinkers, doers and visionaries transforming American politics.” He earned both undergraduate and law degrees from UW-Madison.
The Season of Action includes educational field trips and hikes, as well as the Big Plant, a tree-planting extravaganza that’s now underway to plant more than 12,000 trees county-wide.
This virtual event is free and open to all. Visit climatechangedoorcounty.com to register.
