“Taking Action to Build a Resilient Planet” is the theme of this year’s Door County Climate Change Forum, set for 9 am to 2:15 pm on May 19 at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay.
This fifth annual forum features both local and global leaders whose work models action in fostering individual and community engagement to address climate change threats. They include Rick Beilfuss, president and CEO of the International Crane Foundation; Greg Nemet, associate professor in the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; Tim Kabat, mayor of La Crosse, Wis.; and Keith Reopelle, director of the Dane County (Wisconsin) Office of Energy and Climate Change.
From Asia, Africa and Australia to Wisconsin communities, the forum’s speakers demonstrate the potential for addressing Earth’s climate issues at all levels of engagement, by our cities and towns, universities, civil society organizations and our own households.
The Climate Change Coalition sponsors the annual forum, with the support of many area businesses and organizations. Major sponsors for this year’s forum are the Brico Fund, Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership, Outrider Foundation, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and Virge Temme Architecture.
The event includes a locally sourced lunch and an afternoon panel discussion. For more information and to register, visit climatechangedoorcounty.com.
