Clippers Score Homecoming Victory

Sturgeon Bay stayed one game out of first place in the Packerland Conference on Friday with a Homecoming game win at Memorial Field over Oconto, 20-6.

All three of Sturgeon Bay’s touchdowns came through the air with quarterback Danny Lodl completing 13 of 19 passes for 274 yards.

Two of the Clippers’ receivers tallied more than 100 yards, with Bryce Plzak catching three passes for 116 yards with two touchdowns and Patrick Haese making eight receptions for 112 yards. Kordell Anderson, who caught the other touchdown pass, had two receptions for 46 yards.

On the ground, Caleb Plzak led Sturgeon Bay with 16 carries for 106 yards.

The Clippers led 13-0 at halftime after stopping the Blue Devils from scoring near the goal line.

Oconto’s Dominic Caylor broke the shutout on a third-quarter rushing touchdown, before Sturgeon Bay closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter.

The Clippers outgained the Blue Devils in total offense, 367 to 241 yards.

Up next for Sturgeon Bay, which improved to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the Packerland, is a league game Sept. 29 at conference co-leader Kewaunee.
