Sturgeon Bay’s girls basketball team found the road rough Thursday when the Clippers opened the season with an 80-41 non-conference loss at Chilton.
The Tigers, who led 54-24 at halftime, made 11 three-pointers and landed seven of them in the first half. Chilton had three players score in double figures led by Adahlyn Hoerl with a game-high 21 points.
Sturgeon Bay was led by Dasha Yeltysheva with 11 points. Regan Kasten added 10 points.
“We played hard and had stretches where offense and defense each showed signs of what is to come,” said Clippers head coach Dan Tjernagel. “The officials were very complimentary about how we played and told us to keep up the good work.”
Sturgeon Bay returns to action Nov. 28 when the team hosts its Packerland Conference opener against Oconto.
