Clippers, Pioneers, Vikings Win WIAA Girls Volleyball Regional Tourney Openers

Three of the four Door County girls volleyball teams won their WIAA regional quarterfinal matches on Tuesday.

In Division 2, No. 7-seeded Sturgeon Bay swept No. 10-seeded Wrightstown, 26-24, 25-20, 25-23. 

The Clippers’ statistical leaders included: Chloe Maccaux, 36 digs; Nida Zukauskaite, 17 kills, eight digs; Stevie Routhieaux, nine kills, eight digs; Milan Eliyha, five dig, 24 assists, two aces; Maddie Propsom, four kills, two digs, one ace; Annika Shoeneman, 16 assists;Tori Alger, four digs; and Anya Ostrand, two digs.

Sturgeon Bay advances to Thursday’s regional semifinal at No. 2-seeded Fox Valley Lutheran.

In Division 4, No. 4-seeded Sevastopol swept No. 13-seeded Gillett, 25-18, 25-19, 25-9.

The Pioneers’ statistical leaders included: Kayla Ranly, seven kills, 10 digs, three aces; Alaina Schopf, eight kills, eight aces; Eve Andreae, 16 digs, two aces; Brynn Schartner, nine assists; and Addison Schauske, eight assists.

Sevastopol hosts its semifinal match Thursday against No. 5-seeded Hilbert.

Also in Division 4, No. 6-seeded Gibraltar swept No. 11-seeded Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, 25-18, 25-13, 25-21. 

The Vikings statistical leaders included: Andie Schar, 15 kills, 11 digs; McKailey Reisen, nine kills; Mikala Gorham, six kills; Chloe Alexander, 12 digs, 28 assists, four aces; Ella Greene, four aces; and Pam Prescott, 15 digs.

Gibraltar plays its semifinal match Thursday at No. 3-seeded NEW Lutheran.

The only county team eliminated in the regional quarterfinals was in Division 3, where No. 6-seeded Southern Door lost in five sets to No. 11-seeded Reedsville, 17-25, 27-25, 25-22, 13-25, 7-15.
