Clippers Win Over Wolves in Boys Hoops

On a night dedicated to the memory of former Sturgeon Bay boys basketball head coach Jim Benesh, who passed away last February, the Clippers won their Packerland Conference home contest Thursday over  the Algoma Wolves, 58-35.

Sturgeon Bay, which led 34-16 at halftime, had two players end up in double figures, with Isaak Aune scoring a game-high 16 points and Calvin Richard adding 14 points.

Owen Robertson tallied 13 points to lead Algoma.

The Clippers, who improved to 3-3 in Packerland play and 5-7 overall, return to action Tuesday with a league game at Gibraltar.

Gillett Edges Vikings in Girls Hoops

Gibraltar’s girls basketball team was tied at halftime Thursday when the Vikings lost a non-conference home game to Gillett, 34-33.

Both teams had one player score the majority of their points with Andie Schar leading Gibraltar with 20 points and Cilena Guns tallying a game-high 23 points for Gillett.

The Vikings, who are 1-5 in the Packerland Conference and 2-7 overall, host a league game Saturday against Algoma.
