On Aug. 22 at 9:30 am at the Savory Spoon Cooking School, participants will learn from Beth Coleman’s vast knowledge on how to make deliciously infused syrups, sugars and vinegars that are a great addition to any meal. The class will conclude with a tour of Coleman’s beautiful garden. Cost of the class is $50 per person.
Coleman has been an evolving gardener and designer most of her life, and for the past 15 years has grown her garden design business, The Garden Lady. She has taught many gardening courses and lectured on sustainable gardening design and practices. Despite her best attempts to curtail herself, she continues to develop her home gardens, and says her first book will be titled, Gardening in the Dark, because it so aptly describes her literal and metaphorical habits.
The menu includes Very Berry Syrup, Rosemary Syrup, Lavender and Mint Sugar, Black Cap Raspberry and Basil Vinegars and many surprises to taste during class including Mojitos.
On Aug. 27 at 6 pm, cheesemaker Sid Cook of Carr Valley Cheese will be at the School for a special evening of their Meet the Cheesemaker series. Cook has won more national and international awards than any cheesemaker in North America. As a fourth generation cheesemaker, Cook now operates four cheese plants as well as seven retail cheese stores in south central Wisconsin.
This special evening will feature a variety of Carr Valley Cheese, and an assortment of delectable accompaniments. Enjoy a glass of wine or craft beer while you meet the cheesemaker and learn what makes his cheese so special. For more information and to register online, visit savoryspoon.com or call 920.854.6600.
