‘Color-Brave Photo Project’ Comes to Sturgeon Bay

Hope United Church of Christ, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County, JUST Door County, Inc., and the Door County Civility Project are proud to host FIT Oshkosh, Inc.’s traveling exhibit, Color-Brave Photo Project: Black and Brown Faces, A New Narrative.

The exhibit, funded in part by the Wisconsin Humanities Council and the Oshkosh Community Foundation, features the portraits and personal stories of people of color. According to FIT Oshkosh, Inc.’s Executive Director Tracey Robertson, “The exhibit humanizes its subjects and explains their motivations for making their home in the community in which they live and work. In many cases, these stories dispel ingrained and deeply held stereotypes. This project is a celebration of people of color, their choices, and their lives.”

The Color-Brave Photo Project runs Aug. 24-26 at Hope United Church of Christ, 141 S. 12th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. Hours are 10 am – 4 pm Aug. 24-25, and 10 am – 3 pm on Aug. 26. All are invited to a reception and a special evening viewing on Aug. 24 at 6 pm, followed by a community conversation about the exhibit facilitated by FIT Oshkosh leadership at 7 pm.
