“columbinus” Debuts this Weekend at TAP

columbinus will be performed at Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay from April 25 – 27. Following each of the four performances of columbinus, there will be an audience discussion with special guest panelists along with the cast and director of the play in order to talk further about the many issues raised in the play.

columbinus follows the lives of eight high school students as they go through a typical day. The audience sees their interactions with fellow students, parents, teachers, as well as the thoughts constantly racing through their heads. The entire text is drawn from interviews with high school students from throughout the country.

The tragic events at Columbine High School in April of 1999 are presented to show how the daily stresses of these students could result, in a worst-case scenario, of students acting out their anger and rage.

This play lays out the facts in a uniquely theatrical way in order to start a discussion with the audience. It offers no solutions, no answers, just questions.

Panelists include: Sheila Saperstein, Michelle Geiger-Bronsky, Shirley & Rudy Senarighi, Bob Lindahl, Cheryl Pfister, Regina Shaw, Jeanne Kuhns and Peggy Sue Dunigan.

Performances will be at 7:30 pm on April 25 & 26 and at 2 pm on April 26 & 27. Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 students. This play contains strong language and depictions of violence, and is not recommended for children 12 and under.
