Coming Next Week: The 9th Peninsula Pulse Sustainability Issue

Water is our most vital resource, but most of us never give it a second thought. If we do, it’s usually when we’re admiring the shoreline.

But the health of the Door Peninsula’s groundwater may be more vulnerable than any other region in the Midwest. Our thin topsoil and the Swiss cheese rock beneath it make our aquifer an easy target for pathogens.

No, it’s not only a problem of big agriculture. Changing demographics, increasing demands, and continuing development all play a role in an issue gaining more prominence every month.

In next week’s Sustainability Issue, we’ll take an in-depth look at the state of our groundwater. You’ll meet some of the people fighting to protect it and get a look at the politics influencing what is and isn’t done.

You’ll also find our annual local producer’s guide, the most complete list of those producing local goods on the Door Peninsula.

All this and more in next week’s Peninsula Pulse!
