• Wisconsin Commerce Secretary Paul Jadin will be the keynote speaker at The Door County Economic Development Corporation’s annual investor’s meeting Wednesday, May 25. Stone Harbor Resort and Conference Center in Sturgeon Bay will host the event. Jadin will address “Wisconsin’s Renewed Focus on Economic Development.”

 

The meeting will also include the presentation of the Door County Industry of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year Awards and the annual report to the community about the accomplishments of DCEDC during 2010.

• The Sturgeon Bay Parks Department is organizing a citywide garage sale for June 4. Pre-register by May 16 by calling the Parks Department at 920.746.2914. There is a $5 fee to help cover the cost of advertising for the sale. The city will publish a list of locations and provide a map to the sales.

 

• Barb and Glenn Timmerman, owners of the Horseshoe Bay Farms property, plan to apply to the National Registry of Historic Places to register the property and its well-recognized barns. In the early 20th century the farm was the largest employer in Door County, and the structures remain nearly the same as they were a century ago.

 

The Egg Harbor Historical Association is planning the Taste of Egg Harbor celebration at the site on August 27 to bring the community’s past to life and celebrate Egg Harbor’s sesquicentennial. • The Baileys Harbor Board of Review will meet Monday, May 9 at 6:50 pm in the meeting room of the town hall as required by state statute. However, the board will immediately adjourn because the assessment roll is not yet complete. The Board of Review should be held in late May or Early June.

 

• The City of Sturgeon Bay has rain barrels for sale at Crossroads at Big Creek from 2 – 5 pm daily. The 55-gallon barrels cost $65 and help you save money on your water bills and protect water quality.
