Coming Up At Write On

This week of events at Write On, Door County starts Dec. 2, 10:30 am – 12 pm with Hello, Wisconsin!: Writing Place with David John Paradise. Examining the work of Glenway Wescott’s collection, Goodbye, Wisconsin, Paradise will discuss how character can emerge from place and how writers can establish a sense of place. This class is online and attendance costs $30.

Dec. 4 is Memoir Monday at Scandia Village, 10560 Applewood Rd. in Sister Bay. During this creative lab, 10 – 11 am, seniors can write about moments from their lives.

The following day, Dec. 5, 1 – 4 pm, learn how to balance writing from experience and writing outside of oneself during Write What You (Don’t) Know. The class is led by Janice Deal, Sandra Jones and Katherine Shonk, three returning Write On residents and fiction authors. The class costs $60. Scholarships are available for both this class and the Hello, Wisconsin! class.

A monthly book club, Great Lakes/Great Books Discussion, meets Dec. 7, 10 am – 12 pm.

On Dec. 8, 11 am – 12 pm, Art/Speaks will be held at Idea Gallery, 6551 County Road T in Egg Harbor. Local poets Carrie and Peter Sherrill lead the creative lab to encourage writing in response to visual art.
