Coming Up Next: Gin Mill Hollow at One Barrel Brewing

Among the many great things about Door County’s live music scene is the diversity among its venues. From orchestral performances to nationally recognized artists to local favorites, the county offers a musical feast of sound and place, and one music venue that seems to be increasing in popularity is the patio.

Drive around the Door, and you’re bound to see audiences taking in al fresco entertainment while kicked back around a bonfire or gathered around some high-tops outside a farm market, brewery, winery or restaurant. The appeal – aside from getting a dose of Vitamin D while enjoying some tunes – is the come-as-you-are, anything-goes vibe that these venues attract, from high-energy sounds that bring the crowd to its feet to more laid-back sounds that enhance the overall atmosphere and experience.

One band that seamlessly switches between chill soundscapes and rock-show peaks is Gin Mill Hollow, an Americana outfit that blends genres such as bluegrass and folk with jazz and blues. Catch the group in the family- and pet-friendly beer garden at One Barrel Brewing, 4633 Market St. in Egg Harbor, on July 29 and 30.

With more than 500 live shows to its credit, the group is currently touring as a four-piece ensemble: Mark Norman on upright bass, guitar, hybrid guitar and vocals; Dan Plourde on electric guitar, uke bass and vocals; Josh “Juice” Giudice on mandolin and vocals; and Joe Murray on drums.“They have been a One Barrel favorite since our Egg Harbor location opened in 2019,” said operations manager Olivia Templin. “We bring them back multiple times per season – they are just that good.”
