Community Discussion on Climate Change

The Ridges Sanctuary will host in-person and virtual discussions based on Regeneration: Ending the Climate Crisis in One Generation by Paul Hawken.

Participants will talk about how the concepts of justice, policy, individual action and community are connected to climate-crisis solutions. Moderated by Ridges staff members, discussions will also include perspectives from community experts who will speak about how their work intersects with the climate crisis.

Meeting topics include Wilding and Land on Feb. 8, People and Cities on March 1, Food on March 22, and Energy and Industry on April 12. All meetings will be held 6-7:30 pm, and in-person attendance at The Ridges, 8166 Hwy 57 in Baileys Harbor, will be limited.

There’s still time to register for The Ridges Sanctuary’s Nature Explorers program, set for Feb. 7, Feb. 21 and March 7, all 10-11:15 am. Nature Explorers is a science-education program designed for homeschooled students in grades 1-3 who enjoy outdoor, hands-on learning. Guided by a professionally trained educator, students will hike through diverse ecosystems, learn how to record their observations and questions about the changing nature around them, engage in hands-on investigations with their peers, and make personal connections with the natural world. The program is $20 per class, and participation is limited to 12 students per program.
