Community Engagement Meetings for Gibraltar Referendum

The Gibraltar Area School District has launched a public campaign to inform voters about the $29.8 million building referendum that will be on the April 4 ballot.

The district held its first community-engagement meeting at the end of January and has three more scheduled. Superintendent Brett Stousland said those sessions are set for Feb. 20, 5 pm; March 9, 5:30 pm; and March 15, 5 pm.

Each will begin in the high school library and include a 20-minute overview, and “then a tour of the building to see the areas that will be updated if the referendum passes,” Stousland said. Also, the school board will have planning and design meetings Feb. 22, March 8 and March 22, all at 6 pm.

Stousland said anyone who has questions may contact him at the school by phone or email. He said he will provide tours to small groups if requested, and he plans to talk about the project during informational sessions at coffee shops in the district.

An informational document on the school-construction, renovation and building-replacement projects is available at gibraltar.k12.wi.us/domain/1465.
