In an effort to provide a coordinated philanthropic response to the current COVID-19 health crisis, the Door County Community Foundation (DCCF) and the United Way of Door County have activated the Door County Emergency Response Fund (ERF).
The ERF provides flexible resources to local charities that are serving Door County residents impacted by the COVID-19 coronavirus and the economic consequences of this outbreak. The ERF was designed with flexibility in mind to ensure that resources may be shifted as conditions, circumstances and needs change throughout this crisis.
The DCCF has made an initial contribution of $15,000. Please consider making an online donation to help the people of Door County by visiting RespondDoorCounty.org.
A joint Community Foundation – United Way Emergency Response Fund Task Force will work quickly to deploy grant dollars to local organizations that have a proven record of effectiveness and are playing a critical role in responding to the crisis and its economic consequences. In the longer term, the ERF will distribute resources to non-profit groups that are helping people rebuild their lives after this crisis has abated.
Requests for assistance will be accepted by the joint Community Foundation – United Way Emergency Response Fund Task Force shortly. 501(c)(3) public charities, faith-based organizations, and other public entities serving the people of Door County are eligible to apply.
A simple and streamlined application will be used so that decisions can be made quickly and on a rolling basis. An announcement regarding the application process will be made in the next few days.
