Community Invited to Gibraltar Homecoming Events

Gibraltar Area Schools welcomes alumni and the community to several events in northern Door County during homecoming week, Sept. 25 – 29.

Boys soccer starts the week of Sept. 25 with a 6:30 pm game against Algoma. Other big events during the week include the Wednesday evening bonfire at the Baileys Harbor Recreation Park. The bonfire is sponsored by the Gibraltar Booster Club, with support of the Baileys Harbor Town Board and the Baileys Harbor Fire Department. The bonfire begins at 8 pm with the Gibraltar Pep Band performing and some Viking games. Band Director Charlie Eckhardt kicks off the pep band’s seven-month season of performing for sporting events with veteran and new pep band enthusiasts.

On Thursday evening the volleyball team hosts a community service event, Rally for Hope, during their 6:30 pm match against Stockbridge. All proceeds will be donated to the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition in memory of Randy Pluff, Kenan Bunda and Art Turnquist, the GO BO Foundation in memory of Bo Johnson, and the American Childhood Cancer Organization in honor of Tessa Erickson.

On Friday, at 3 pm, all Gibraltar students, and community members, will enjoy the annual Homecoming Parade that runs from the Fish Creek Marina through downtown Fish Creek up to Gibraltar Schools.

The traditional football homecoming game celebration is Sept. 29 at Gibraltar with a 7 pm kickoff. Along with announcing the Homecoming Court and concession stand fare, DECA (the Gibraltar Business Club) will host a cornhole game fundraiser for the GO BO Foundation.
