Community Invited to Oral History Workshop

Albert Zahn and Bird’s Park

The community is welcome to attend the September meeting of the Baileys Harbor Historical Society and a presentation on Albert Zahn and Bird’s Park on Sept. 12 at 7 pm.

Presenter Randy Zahn will share the story of his great-grandfather, nationally recognized folk artist Albert Zahn, and the art environment he created at Bird’s Park in Baileys Harbor, which is on the Wisconsin National Register of Historic Places.

The presentation will be held at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall and refreshments will be served.

The Baileys Harbor Historical Society will also be sponsoring two workshops on oral history interviewing for persons who would like to learn how to record family and community stories told by older family members.

The workshops will be taught by Steve Hey, Emeritus Professor of Sociology, from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.

The workshops are scheduled for Sept. 9 from 10 am to noon and 7 to 9 pm in the Baileys Harbor Town Hall auditorium. Each workshop will be limited to a maximum of ten persons. Spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Call Steve Hey at 920.839.2202 in order to register for the workshop.
