    The Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Alumni Association is currently seeking nominations for the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award. Nominees must have graduated from NWTC, and will be considered based on their professional accomplishments, community service, and contribution to technical education.

  • Ahnapee-Western Railway Subject of Historical Society Meeting

    The Door County Historical Society will host its monthly dinner meeting featuring a presentation on the Ahnapee-Western Railway on April 27. The catered dinner meeting will be at 6 pm at Prince of Peace Church, 1756 Michigan St.

  • Somatics Classes Offered in Egg Harbor

    Somatics for Pain-Free Movement classes are being offered at Andria’s Dancin’ on the Door in Egg Harbor on Tuesdays from 9 – 10 am through May 12. Class instructor is Lori Strantz, owner of Lori’s Spa Essence in Fish Creek and somatic exercise coach and clinical somatic practitioner in-training.

  • Sister Bay Ice Out Winners

    Congratulations to the winners of the 77th annual Nor Door Ice Out Contest in Sister Bay. This year, the Ice Out raft started floating at 2:25 pm on April 6.

  • Sunrise School Visits Sheltered Workshop

    The Sunrise School Ambassadors, a group chosen by their teachers to be goodwill ambassadors and volunteers in our community, recently visited the Sunshine House Sheltered Workshop.

  • Christ Child Society Meeting

    Christ Child Society members will meet at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Jacksonport on April 27 at 12:30 pm. The Society has helped many children through their One on One program since their last meeting.

  • Lucy J. Erdmann Scholarship Applications

    Applications are currently being accepted for the Lucy J. Erdmann scholarship. This scholarship is open to any graduate of a Door County high school who is enrolled in a certified nursing program and who has successfully completed two semesters of work toward a nursing certificate.

  • Assistance with Energy Bills

    The Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) in Door County is managed by We Are HOPE, Inc. Individuals needing help with home heating bills are urged to contact the agency.

  • Volunteers for Fine Art Fair

    The Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center is currently seeking volunteers for the 2015 Sturgeon Bay Fine Art Fair. Held at Sunset Park along the Sturgeon Bay waterfront, the 17th annual Fine Art Fair will take place May 23 from 10 am to 5 pm and May 24 from 10 am to 4 pm.

  • Volunteers Needed to Clean Scandia Village

    Volunteers are needed to help with grounds clean up at Scandia Village Good Samaritan on April 25 at 9 am. This is an opportunity for students looking to fulfill community service hours needed for graduation, girl & boy scout troops and people of all ages to celebrate spring and Earth Day.

  • Humane Society Receives Donation

    The Door County Humane Society (DCHS) was recently given $20,000 by the late Dorothy Krasawski. Krasawski was a Door County lady who, when she wasn’t dancing, was walking her dogs at Peninsula State Park or around her 12th Avenue neighborhood.
