  • Nominations Sought for Distinguished Alumni Award

    The Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) Alumni Association is currently seeking nominations for the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award. Nominees must have graduated from NWTC, and will be considered based on their professional accomplishments, community service, and contribution to technical education.

  • Door County 4-H Members Spend Day at Capitol

    On March 19, nine 4-H youth and adults from Door County visited Madison for 4-H Day at the Capitol to discuss the positive impacts of 4-H with Assembly Representatives Garey Bies and John Klenke.

  • Southern Door FFA Members Attend Leadership Conferences

    Four members of the Southern Door FFA attended the 212 Degrees and EDGE Leadership Conferences in Stevens Point on March 21 & 22. More than 400 members and advisers from around Wisconsin participated in these national leadership conferences.

  • Panel Discussion on Caregiving with Dementia

    Northern Door Health & Wellness Ministry continues its Community Health Information Programs on April 27 at 4 pm with “Caring for Persons with Dementia” at First Baptist Church in Sister Bay.

  • Sister Bay Egg Hunt Set for April 19

    Parents are invited to bring their children to the fourth annual Sister Bay Egg Hunt on April 19 at 10:30 am. Eggs will be hidden around Waterfront Park in downtown Sister Bay (inside the Sister Bay Village Hall if it’s raining), and there will be an appearance from the Easter Bunny.

  • FSA Reminders

    The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) Administrator Juan M. Garcia recommends farmers and ranchers who plan to participate in FSA programs register in advance.

  • Davon House at Sister Bay Lions’ Packer Night

    The Sister Bay Lions Club held the 32nd consecutive Packer Night for local youths on March 24. This year’s guest speaker was Green Bay Packers cornerback Davon House.

  • Rotary International Hosts Potluck Dinner

    The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay is inviting the community to the annual Rotary International Potluck Dinner on April 26, 6 pm, at Hope United Church in Sturgeon Bay.

    Neighbor to Neighbor Volunteer Caregivers and United Way of Door County are hosting a fundraiser on April 29 at Newport Resort in Egg Harbor from 6 to 8 pm.

    More than 1,100 Wisconsin high school students attended the State DECA Career Development Conference in Lake Geneva March 18 – 20. Marketing students competed in 35 different business events ranging from global entrepreneurship to start-up restaurant marketing.

    The Peninsula Preschool of Ephraim announces a scrumptious fundraising event – Get Stuffed for Preschool on March 29 at the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek.

  • Gibraltar Fire Rescue Train with Chainsaws

    As part of the Forest Fire Protection grant program administered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Gibraltar Fire Rescue, Gibraltar EMRs, and Gibraltar Police received a matching $4,200 to purchase two chainsaws, an ATV firefighting skid unit, and an eight-hour chainsaw safety class delivered by FISTA, Inc.

  • Community Health Information Program Focuses on Dementia

    Northern Door Health & Wellness Ministry continues its Community Health Information Programs with an upcoming presentation on dementia. Christy Wisniewski, Ministry Memory Clinic Outreach Specialist, will discuss “Recognizing the Signs of Dementia” at the Community Health Information Program on March 30.

  • Try a Smelt Fry

    The Sturgeon Bay Kiwanis Club is holding a smelt fry on April 10 at the Mill Supper Club in Sturgeon Bay. The fry lasts from 4:30 to 7:30 pm, and is $10 per person; children 10 and under eat for free.

  • Ice Out Competitions Opens Up

    Door County is almost out of the depths of winter and it’s time to wager a guess for when the ice will officially “go out” of Sister Bay. Voting boxes for the 76th annual Ice Out Competition are in businesses around Sister Bay waiting for votes.

  • YMCA Passes Campaign’s Halfway Mark

    The Door County YMCA has surpassed the halfway point or its Annual Campaign goal to raise $500,000. Funds raised through the Annual Campaign and various community special events, will provide financial assistance for Door County residents who cannot afford a Y membership.
