YMCA Recognizes National Volunteer Week
The Door County YMCA recognizes National Volunteer Week – a time to honor individuals who dedicate themselves to strengthening our community. In Sturgeon Bay last summer, over 30 Y volunteers helped serve over 5,100 lunches and 3,500 snacks to over 1,750 children through the Summer Food Program.

Robert Kufrin, Sister Bay Village Administrator, announced his retirement on Monday, April 9. His last day is scheduled for June 28. “I really like my job, I really like all the people I work with – the board, the trustees, the committees, the community,” Kufrin said.

Yes, animals do come to the shelter from Washington Island. That’s the answer to a question often posed to the Humane Society staff. In mid-March, two sociable cats crossed over on the ferry and traveled all the way to our location across from Cherryland Airport.

Newly Developed Aging and Disability Resource Center Holds Open House
A new program, aimed at assisting the elderly and adults with physical or developmental challenges, was recently introduced to the county – The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC).
