Composting Topic of Potluck Program

Wild Ones of the Door Peninsula and the Climate Change Coalition of Door County (CCCDC) are hosting a potluck March 28 at Crossroads at Big Creek that features a program on composting.

The evening will start with an optional, heavy hors d’oeuvres potluck at 6 pm. Participants are asked to provide a plate of finger food, from appetizers to desserts. Following the meal, leftovers and scraps will be collected.

At 7 pm, Jeff Lutsey, executive director of the CCCDC, will explain the environmental benefits of the Door Community Compost Initiative and distribute collection-site maps and information about compostables.

Crossroads, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay, has become one of the network’s newest compost sites, and the program will end with the “consecration” of its compost container with a ceremonial dumping of the potluck scraps. Compost buckets will also be available for a $25 donation to the Door Community Compost Initiative.
