Composting with the Village of Egg Harbor

The Village of Egg Harbor will resume compost pickup starting this month. With the help of the DNR and the village’s Compost University-trained Public Works team, a pilot program was launched in conjunction with Main Street Market and select businesses.

Participants receive 5-gallon collection pails to collect pre-consumer food scraps (fruits and veggies – no dairy or meat). Each week, volunteers from the Door Community Compost Initiative will pick up the buckets and drop off clean ones. Pickup is Wednesdays, 10 am.

The cost to participate is free, but a suggested donation of $50 helps pay for the buckets. The program is open May 18 – Oct. 26.
