Compromise Reached on Concession Stand

The Sister Bay Village Board has decided on a revised plan for the concession stand for the new baseball field at the Sister Bay Sports Complex.

Originally it was thought bathrooms would be required at the stand, pushing the cost of the stand over $200,000. But further research revealed the village could get away with a simpler facility for selling food and beer at Door County League baseball games while utilizing the existing warming house at the complex for food preparation and bathrooms. Reducing the scope of the project means it won’t be necessary to run sewer and water to the building and will drop the estimated price tag at least $100,000.

The Sister Bay Bays baseball team will relocate from their longtime location behind Johnson’s Park to the sports complex by 2010.

“We did not want to renege on our promise to the ball club to replace everything they currently have at their present location,” said village trustee Sharon Doersching.

The stand will also include a picnic shelter available to other users as well.
