Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a series of free concerts throughout May. Featuring students, faculty and special guests from the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, all of the performances will be held in the serene surroundings of Bjِrklunden’s Vail Hall.
On Sunday, May 4 at 1:30 pm, students, alumni, and faculty of the Lawrence University Saxophone Studio will introduce the audience to the entire family of saxophones (soprano through bass) in compositions ranging from works for solo saxophone to a chamber ensemble of twenty saxophones. A wide variety of classical and jazz styles will be represented on the program, including works by Francis Poulenc, Astor Piazzolla, and John Cage.
On Thursday, May 8 at 4:30 pm the Urness Bass Studio will be performing, as well as the Women’s Music Sorority, Sigma Alpha Iota.
On Sunday, May 11 at 1:30 pm, the presentation of chamber music and the Padilla Piano studio will feature string and piano students performing chamber music masterworks.
Then, on Sunday, May 18 at 1:30 pm, the Piano Studio of Dmitri Novgorodsky will perform various musical compositions.
