Concrete Artist to Speak at Bertschinger Community Center

Concrete artist Dylan Lauger of Sturgeon Bay will lead a presentation on his art at the Door County Art League meeting on June 27 at the Bertschinger Community Center in Egg Harbor. Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead, director of the Miller Art Museum, will also speak about the Miller’s programs and exhibits planned for this summer and fall. The meeting begins at 7 pm and is open to the public.

Lauger, who has owned and operated Lauger Concrete since 1998, infuses artistic inspiration into functional, utilitarian projects: kitchen floors, counters, furniture, driveways, patios, garden walls and terraces. Concrete artistry is both profession and passion for Lauger, who says he is still learning the craft. “I’m no pioneer, not in the world of concrete artistry. But I was the first to do innovative concrete work in this area. I’d like to think that people are seeking me out because I’m doing quality work that is artistically unique,” Lauger said in an interview with Door County Living’s Jacinda Duffin in 2008. Examples of Lauger’s work can be viewed at laugerconcrete.com.

The Bertschinger Community Center is at the junction of Highway 42 and Orchard Road in Egg Harbor. Learn more about the programs of the Door County Art League at doorcountyartleague.org or on Facebook at Door County Art League and Gallery.
