Good service seems so natural,
when it’s a big part of your bloodline.
For Sarah’s mom it’s sorting and stamping;
for Sarah it’s serving good pasta and fine wine.
Another lifetime resident of the county,
after 14 years she still thinks this work is neat.
Heaps lavish praise upon the owner;
insists he’s called a co-worker, you and I just call him Pete.
She has other ideas to keep busy,
with the slowing of hustle, bustle and strife.
But she remains elated to be a server,
to quote her, “It’s just part of DC life.”
