Congratulations to Adele Douglass

If you’re my age you’ve heard those stories and rumors galore,
Of that beneficent organization know as the old Peace Corps.
Our server began her service with them back in the day,
Husband Ed and her inspired by a live speech from JFK.

Now past servers have been legit from bus driver to a cook,
But Adele’s volunteer work? Suffice to say it filled my whole notebook.
Still teachin’ swimming at the Y, a Friend of Whitefish Dunes – way cool.
Another Friend of the Library Board, a “reading buddy” at an Sturgeon Bay school.

At the research station collecting data, on fruits and potatoes she doth keep track.
Adele, why do you do this? “Well you know the plants, they don’t talk back.”
She says her goal for this endeavor is improved nutrition down the road.
Her life’s been blessed with good health and family, supportive friends to ease her load.
