Congregation Constructs Garden of Gethsemane at Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church

During services this Lent, the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church (UMC) has been worshipping in the Garden of Gethsemane. Members of the congregation constructed the Garden, complete with “rocks” and “paths,” to help illustrate the stories of the last few days of Christ’s life. Several larger shrubs and trees form the background and give a feeling of a desert oasis. Pastor David Leistra serves the Sturgeon Bay and Jacksonport United Methodist Churches. The Sturgeon Bay UMC is located at the corner of Michigan and 9th Ave. The Jacksonport UMC is just off Hwy. 42 and Cave Point Road. The service schedule for Holy Week: March 25 – Good Friday Service, 1 pm, SBUMC; March 27 – Easter Sunrise Service, 7 am, Crossroads at Big Creek; Breakfast at SBUMC, 8 am; Easter Service, 9 am, SBUMC; Easter Service, 10:30 am, Jacksonport UMC.
