Congressman Pocan Will Speak at Thomas Paine Dinner Thursday

Congressman Mark Pocan will give his insights into the current political environment at the eighth annual Thomas Paine Common Sense Dinner Thursday, May 11.

The event, hosted by the Door County Democratic Party at Door County Fire Company in Sturgeon Bay, aims to illustrate the immediacy of Thomas Paine’s statement: “We have it in our power to begin the world over again.”

The evening begins with a social hour at 5 pm and a buffet dinner at 6 pm. Pocan will speak at 7 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Congressman Pocan has represented Wisconsin’s second congressional district since 2013 after serving 14 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Rep. Pocan brought his experience as a small business owner, union member and lifelong advocate for progressive causes.

In the 115th Congress, he serves on the House Appropriations Committee where he sits on the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education, and the Subcommittee on Agriculture. As First Vice Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Rep. Pocan works to expand the Caucus and provide Congress with a strong voice for Wisconsin’s traditional progressive values.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet Bob Harlow, staunch progressive and hopeful Democratic candidate for governor of Wisconsin.
