Connection between Sleep & Aging Discussed at CHIP

Northern Door Health & Wellness Ministry continues its Community Health Information Programs with “Normal Sleep and the Effects of Aging” on Aug. 11 at 4 pm at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Sister Bay. Neurologist Phil Hansotia, MD, will speak about the benefit of a good night’s sleep.

Sleep allows our body to rest and restore its energy levels. Without enough restful sleep, older adults are more likely to have depressed moods, attention and memory problems, excessive daytime sleepiness, more nighttime falls, and use more over-the-counter or prescription sleep aids. Poor sleep is also associated with a poorer quality of life.

The Ministry also offers free blood pressure screenings twice a month at Main Street Market and St. Rosalia’s Church. For more information visit NorthernDoorHealthWellness.com.
