Construction Complete on Highway 42

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Northeast Region has announced the completion of all major construction on 7.2 miles of Highway 42 between the south junction of Highway 57 and the Bayview Bridge in the town of Nasewaupee and the city of Sturgeon Bay.

The $7.49 million project began March 23 and finished slightly under budget. The work included resurfacing, pavement repairs, drainage work, replacing beamguard and signing, and pavement markings. Minor finishing work may still take place.

Locally funded safety improvements were also part of the project. Those included Ashland Avenue, Neenah Avenue and County U. Local dollars were also used to reconfigure southbound Highway 42/57 traffic lanes and reconstruct a multi-use path.

Northeast Asphalt of Greenville, Wisconsin, was the prime contractor.
