Construction Continues at Sister Bay NWTC Site

Construction is underway at the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) Learning and Innovation Center (LIC) in partnership with Nicolet National Bank in northern Door County.

Crews are currently remodeling the 5,400-square-foot former Nicolet National Bank building located at 2438 S. Bay Shore Drive in Sister Bay. NWTC purchased the building from Nicolet National last year.

The center will feature a state certified kitchen for local residents who make food for re-sale. Additional features are a flexible classroom, video-conference rooms, and multipurpose space.

“This is a really exciting time for the residents of northern Door County,” said LIC Manager Lisa Tetzloff. “The center will provide a variety of resources to help community members achieve their goals.”

Plans are underway to provide seminars and workshops to existing and start-up businesses based on their specific needs for sustainability and growth. Lifelong learning opportunities for community members covering a range of topics are in development. Northern Door residents will also be able to take NWTC credit courses and connect to the LIC’s Wi-Fi.

“We are continuing to gather input from area residents so our plans meet residents’ needs,” Tetzloff said.

Blue Sky Contractors in Appleton is leading the $450,000 renovation project.

The building is expected to open in spring 2018.
