Construction Season Underway

Ephraim, Nasewaupee and Sturgeon Bay

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) completed a shoreline-stabilization project in Ephraim last week on Highway 42 from the shoreline at the Ephraim Creek crossing near Brookside Lane to approximately 400 feet west (south). The $225,418 project involved stabilization of the bay of Green Bay shoreline adjacent to Highway 42 by installing a buried concrete-block wall and reinforcing the riprap adjacent to Ephraim Creek.

Meanwhile, the resurfacing project that WisDOT began on Highway 42 on March 30 continues from south of the junction with Highway 57 to the Bayview Bridge in the Town of Nasewaupee and the City of Sturgeon Bay. The $7.5 million project involves asphaltic surface milling and paving, excavation, base aggregate placement, concrete pavement, diamond grinding concrete pavement, spot storm-sewer improvements, guardrails, pavement marking and various incidental items.

Construction also includes locally funded improvements to intersections at Ashland and Neenah Avenue, County U/Circle Ridge Road and the Green Bay northbound ramp.

The project completion date is expected in September. Traffic impacts include single-lane closures and flagging operations through May 26 and County U closed at the intersection with Highway 42. Local roadways will be closed and/or detoured during various times throughout construction.
