Contact Representatives to Support Door County Job Center Funding

On June 13, the Bay Area Workforce Development Board’s executive committee voted to reduce or eliminate funding for reception and resource-room services at several northeast Wisconsin job centers.

We Are HOPE received $45,163 in funding from the board during the 2018-19 funding year to operate the Door County Job Center, and losing this funding will mean that those who need assistance will have limited access to in-person support and may need to travel to the Brown County Job Center in Green Bay. Many of the 300-plus job center clients who visit during the summer struggle with transportation, do not have computers at home or lack quality internet service through which to conduct their job searches. We Are HOPE urges the community to contact our elected representatives to create awareness of this critical issue and ask that they approve funding to support the Door County Job Center. Contact Rep. Joel Kitchens at 608.266.5350 or [email protected], Sen. André Jacque at 608.266.3512 or [email protected], and Gov. Tony Evers at 608.266.1212 or [email protected].
